Name: Sinziana Rasca, PhD Research Fellow
Applying for the position of: President
Name of department: Engineering Sciences
In the autumn of 2018 I was one of the core group members who shaped this initiative, and I feel very close to the values and ideas UiAdoc is promoting. My experience as a PhD at UiA for the past year has been extremely exciting, but it has also pointed out the many areas where work is needed to improve the quality of the doctoral and postdoctoral programs at UiA. I would like to lead the team of UiAdoc in working towards making these improvements a reality.
My previous volunteer experience as national board member for the National Organization of
Romanian Scouts (two mandates, between 2010 and 2015) gave me good insight in respect to running and managing NGOs. This is why I feel competent enough to run for the position of President, and I hope my fellow PhDs and Postodcs will agree to entrust me with this post.
I have over 10 years of experience of working in international environments, both professionally and as a volunteer. I am comfortable with leading teams, lobbying for policy change, negotiating with different bodies, accessing funds and managing projects, mostly in the youth sector. I live by the motto “Leave the world a little better than you found it”, which is why I enjoy spending my personal time in an active way, getting involved in initiatives that I feel are important.
In my personal life, I am passionate about the environment and architecture. I enjoy discovering the beautiful world we live in and I try my best to lobby for protecting it, usually leading by example.
Since I started working at UiA, I discovered a wonderful international environment that is making me grow, both personally and professionally, therefore one of the activities I enjoy most in Norway is spending time with my friends while exploring this beautiful country.
I hope I managed to give you at lease a small idea about who I am and what makes me wake up in the morning, and I am looking forward to answering all of your questions, either by email at email@example.com or in the public page of the UiAdoc General Assembly.
