Seeking Candidates to run for UiA Board (DDL 28 April)

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

Hello, fellow PhD and Postdoc friends! This message contains important news, so please read it through.

Every year, the University of Agder holds elections for the University Board, and there is one position that must be filled to represent Temporary Employees, which primarily consists of PhD and Postdoc researchers. As such, we at UiAdoc choose to publicly support a candidate in this election, and we have a ex officio position on our own board for the person who holds this seat.

What does this mean for you?

We are currently seeking candidates to support for the University Board election, and this could be you! The University Board is the primary steering committee for the goals and visions of the University of Agder, and the decisions that they make are important for every employee at UiA.

How do I run for UiAdoc's support in the University Board elections?

- Step 1: Submit your candidacy for the University Board election by Tuesday, May 14. You can find instructions here (note, you need the support of at least 5 colleagues).

- Step 2: Let us know that you will submit your candidacy and that you would like to vie for the support of UiAdoc by April 28th through a mail to zachary.bresler@uia.no. We will publish a list of the candidates on our webpage and social media ahead of the UiAdoc General Assembly on May 12.

- Step 3: The UiAdoc membership will vote on which candidate they would like to support at our General Assembly on May 12*. If you are chosen, we will publish material on our website, social media, and email list in support of your candidacy.

- Step 4: Get elected :-) The university board election takes place from 26. May to 3. June, and the winning candidate will represent temporary employees on the university board beginning on 1. August for a period of one year.

*Note that if you lose the vote for support from UiAdoc, you will still be a candidate for the UiA Board position. The winner of the UiA Board election will be offered an ex officio position on the board regardless of whether they received the support of the organisation at the GA.

The current representative for temporary employees on the University Board is Ingrid Lande Larsen. If you have questions about the responsibilities and realities of the position (and the UiAdoc board position that comes with it), feel free to email her at ingrid.larsen@uia.no.
